What are the INTASC Principles?

 

The INTASC Principles give beginning teachers standards that can be used to design, implement, assess, and reflect upon their lessons.  They include:

 

Design—The teacher

·       understands the subject matter and the learner

·       uses a variety of instructional strategies

·       differentiates instruction to meet the needs of all learners

Implementation—The lessons incorporate

·       knowledge of the curriculum, subject matter and individual learner needs

·       a variety of instructional strategies

·       awareness of the community

Assessment—The teacher uses

·       a variety of formal and informal assessment strategies

Reflection—The teacher

·       continually reflects upon the effects of his/her practice and adapts instruction accordingly

seeks opportunities for professional growth
