What is IMAP?

 

IMAP has established a mentoring and assessment program to assist and evaluate beginning teachers in Indiana.  The licensing requirements set forth by this program develop the beginning teacher’s skills in designing, implementing, assessing, and reflecting upon the lessons they are teaching to their students in Indiana.  Beginning teachers in Indiana are required to complete the following for licensing:

 

Year 1 (Initial License)

·       Participate in an assessment plan which includes content-specific seminars and orientation sessions designed by building/district level administration.

·       Meet with a certified mentor for support.

 

Year 2 (Proficient License)

·       Participate in an assessment plan.

·       Meet with certified mentor for support.

·       Complete a teaching portfolio with the support of a certified mentor.

 

 

Year 3 (if portfolio submitted in Year 2 does not meet or exceed requirements)

·       Participate in an assessment plan.

·       Resubmit the teaching portfolio with the support of a certified mentor.
