Why Was IMAP created?

In order to ensure that all students in Indiana continue to have a highly skilled, professionally strong teacher, the Indiana Mentoring and Assessment Program (IMAP) has set high expectations for professional educators as well as beginning teachers throughout the state.  These expectations are based on the principles of the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC).  IMAP provides all beginning teachers with a mentor who is highly skilled in these same principles as well as the principles of mentoring.
