It is with a great sense of pride and excitement that the faculty, staff, and administration welcome you and your child to Jefferson High School for the 2011-2012 school year! We believe that our students are in store for a wonderful year of excitement, opportunities, and growth. Thank you for choosing Jefferson High School for your child’s educational opportunity! We will endeavor to make that choice pay huge dividends for your child.
Our focus remains the same as in the past: academic achievement by ALL of our students is our number one priority. This focus on achievement began in earnest two years ago and has already created an increase in student achievement. Our test scores and graduation rate have improved significantly! Even though we have seen statistical improvements, we believe we can still do better. To that end, we are committed to the ideal that all members of our school community learn and grow every day…that we are never finished learning!
We need your help! You, as the parent, play the most pivotal role in our partnership to educate your child. We need you to insist that your child attend school every day, that they do their homework and study, and that they give their absolute best effort every day. We need for you to ask us questions and to be involved in our school. You are on the same journey with your child…be an active participant along the ride so the destination is as wonderful as we all hope it to be for your child.
We are also very excited about our new Modified Block 8 Schedule that will be used this year! With the new schedule, your student will meet with each of their teachers on Monday. Tuesday and Thursday will be Red Days, and Wednesday and Friday will be Black Days. We feel strongly that this schedule will allow us to see students more often during the week while still providing everyone with the benefits of being on the Block 8 Schedule.
Have a wonderful year at Jefferson High School!
