Take pride in yourself…take pride in your school.

Dear Jefferson Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, and parents for making the first weeks of school a success. The beginning of each school year is an exciting time and I want to welcome our new students and staff members to Jefferson High School.  It is also wonderful to see how our returning students have changed in only three short months.

I want to remind all parents that ISTEP testing will be taking place on September 16th, 17th, and 18th for all sophomores and any junior or senior who has not yet met this graduation requirement.  Please read the inside section about this important exam to help make your child’s testing experience a success.  Please note:  Freshmen students will not be taking ISTEP tests this fall.

The accomplishments of any learning community are a result of collaborative efforts by all stakeholders.  This year, Jefferson High School, as well as the other schools in the district, has changed to a new student database system called Power School.  Sometime in September, parents will receive login information which will allow them to access data online about their children.  Parents will be able to view grades, attendance, and a variety of other materials using this program.  As educational partners, we encourage you to take advantage of this information.

I appreciate everyone’s patience with our current building project. The Rohrman Center for the Performing Arts construction for Phase I is nearly complete and students are attending classes in the new building.  We are still working on the other phases of the project, so we still must redirect parent traffic for dropping off and picking up. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work towards completion of this fantastic facility.

As your principal, I continue to be excited about the 2008-2009 school year. The enthusiasm our students and staff show is remarkable. They are the reason Jefferson High School continues to be an excellent place to learn.

Please feel free to contact me at any time should you have questions or concerns. My phone number is 765-772-4700 ext. 2712, or via email at: gmontgomery@lsc.k12.in.us.
